The Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3 is seeing a 25 percent jump in collections on Saturday as early estimates indicate seventh-day collection in the range of Rs. 16 to 16.50 crores. The jump is there primarily in the national multiplex chains owing to the Saturday factor.
The 7-day total of this Maneesh Sharma-directed film stands in the range of Rs. 214 crores, which is marginally higher than the previous film of the Tiger Franchise, Tiger Zinda Hai. The numbers suggest an underperformance of the film as the business is below the blockbusters of 2023 – Jawan, Pathaan, and Gadar 2. A Salman Khan franchise film was expected to challenge those numbers but has fallen short of expectations post-release.
The lifetime business of Tiger 3 will be lower than Tiger Zinda Hai, but the positive part of YRF is the fact that they won’t lose money on the film due to big back-end satellite, and digital deals. The film is a success and is expected to enter the Rs. 300 crore club too, but yet, one won’t shy away from terming it an underperformer from Salman Khan.
With the right content, Tiger 3 was a sure-shot entry in the Rs. 500 crore club, but alas, Maneesh Sharma and co could not deliver a right fit product like the previous film of the franchise. The Sunday business was impacted by Diwali, followed by a Rs. 7 to 8 crore loss on Wednesday due to the India vs New Zealand Semi-Final Game. Tiger 3 is now set for a loss of Rs. 10 to 15 crore again on Sunday owing to the India vs Australia Final match of the Cricket World Cup.
