Kangana Ranaut’s patriotic actioner Tejas is having a mayday at the box office. The film collected Rs 1.25 crore on its second day similar to its opening figure, as per Sacnilk. com. The total collection of the film now stands at about Rs 2.5 crore.
As per the portal, Tejas recorded 7.58 per cent Hindi occupancy on Saturday. It opened in theatres with 6.83 per cent occupancy. Tejas released alongside Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey, which had a similar opening but showed growth on Saturday amid positive word of mouth.
After the collections were out, Kangana took to Instagram on Saturday and urged viewers to help “save cinema”. “Even before covid theatrical footfalls were dipping drastically post covid it has become seriously rapid. Many theatres are shutting down and even after free tickets and many reasonable offers drastic footfall decline is continuing. Requesting people to watch films in theatres and enjoy with family and friends or else they (theatres) won’t be able to survive. Thanks,” she said in a video, adding that those who enjoyed films like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Mary Kom and Neerja will also like Tejas.
Our review of Tejas read: “All arguments in favour of Kangana being a fine actor, distracted by her ideology disintegrate with Tejas. The National Award winner is so overtly determined in her performance that she ultimately appears stony. She robotically shifts between emotions and only seems convincing while slashing the throat of a terrorist. The radicals, on the other hand, seem like Charlie Hebdo caricatures have come to life.”
The film has been directed by Sarvesh Mewara. It was released in theatres on October 27.
