Bollywood continues to wait for a big Friday as things have just not been good since Fukrey 3 arrived in September. Ever since then there has been a series of flops and disasters. Though one didn’t have expectations from many films, at least Mission Raniganj and Ganapath came with good hopes due to the credentials attached to them. A couple of small successes have been there in the form of Leo [Hindi] and 12th Fail but a big opener has been elusive for a really long time.

Box Office: New releases are dull as less than Rs. 1 crore comes in

The week gone by though was the lowest of them all, what with numbers just not coming in. Less than Rs. 1 crore were collected from a mix of movies that came in which pretty much tells the tale. Aankh Micholi, The Lady Killer and UT69 were the new releases that came and went within a week’s time and even though there was no competition whatsoever from any other film in the running, the footfalls were just not there.

Aankh Micholi had relatively better collections, though the numbers were miniscule at less than Rs. 50 lakhs*. The only solace is that the numbers were slightly higher than Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video which had released a week before that. Starring Abhimanyu Dasani and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, this comedy didn’t quite entice audiences. Raj Kundra starrer UT69 also managed a release of sorts but the collections were less than Rs. 20 lakhs. As for The Lady Killer, it collected in thousands actually. Unbelievable!

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
