Stree 2 is having a phenomenal run at the box office, smashing numerous records. Aparshakti Khurana, who plays Bittu in the horror-comedy franchise, expressed his excitement of being a part of the f ilm. In an interview with IndiaToday.in, he said that it’s much more satisfying when financial success is accompanied by critical acclaim.
Aparshakti Khurana reflects on journey from financial struggles to success; says, “I had just Rs 556 in my bank account”
The sequel allowed the actor to showcase many different facets of his talent, which he described as ‘challenging but super fun.’ He also reflected on his journey, revealing that he once had only a few hundred dollars in his bank account.
Aparshakti said, “It feels surreal discussing this right now as I was just talking to my wife the other night about this. Over three cups of tea, we spoke till three in the morning about how far we had come. I remember, that once we were done with our wedding festivities and honeymoon, we hardly had any money. It was the last week of the month, and we were both waiting for our salaries to be credited. I clearly remember I had just Rs 556 in my bank account. I cried while talking to her, and even now I am teary-eyed as I think about the times we have left behind. Touchwood, we are in a good space now. We are thriving as a family and also professionally. And that feels good.”
The Dangal actor went on to say that, despite the difficulties he has faced, he will never disrespect labor or roles. He stated that, while directors are now approaching him for lead roles, he has never turned down character roles.
“The memory of that Rs 500 in my bank account keeps me going. It reminds me of my beautiful journey in the industry and how there’s a lot more to achieve,” he said.
Aparshakti Khurana also spoke about Stree 2 and its significance in his career. He shared that, while every film is special for an actor, some go on to contribute a lot: “People kept talking about Stree wherever I went in the last five years. They would also keep asking me when the next part would arrive. That shows how special that film is for all of us and even the audiences. I am happy to be associated with it and proud that it went on to create its niche.”
The actor also discussed how he, Rajkummar Rao, and Abhishek Banerjee hit it off immediately after working on the film. “We are really fond of each other. I think our friendship automatically traverses to the screen also. Our scenes are so cute and funny that people often feel it’s how they converse with their friends. We really had a lot of fun on the set, and it’s always the same when we get together,” he added.
Stree 2 also starring Shraddha Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi, has already grossed over Rs 400 crores globally.
