Back in 2013 when Chennai Express had released, it had netted Rs. 227 crores at the box office. Now Dunki, which arrived a decade later, is set to go past its lifetime and the record could well be set in a week from now.

Dunki Box Office: All set to cross Chennai Express lifetime

The latest Shah Rukh Khan starrer currently stands at 219 crores*, which means less than 10 crores more are required for the feat to be accomplished. This should happen within the fourth weekend itself, if not earlier by the close of the third week. Once this happens, it could well be the last of the milestones for Shah Rukh Khan since the film would stand as his third biggest grosser ever with Jawan leading from the top at Rs. 644 crores and Pathaan being the second highest at Rs. 543.05 crores.

The gap is too huge between the second and the third best for the superstar but that also goes on to show the kind of supremacy that he had in 2023 where he ended up scoring his three biggest grossers ever in a single year. Of course, if one accounts for inflation and ticket prices as well as the budget then Chennai Express is far ahead and a much bigger success. However, from the absolute numbers’ perspective, Dunki will eventually manage to find a place up there.
