The much-awaited Kanagana Ranaut starrer, Tejas has taken a disastrous start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, the aerial actioner has collected in the range of Rs. 1.25 to 1.40 crores on its opening day. The film failed to show a big spike through the day and this isn’t exactly a good sign as films that open low in morning shows often see a spike in business towards evening and night shows.

The three national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis – have collected Rs. 85 lakhs on the first day, contributing 60 percent to the total business. The cost for Tejas is on the higher side and hence, with this start, it’s difficult for the film to make up for the heavy investment. Kangana Ranaut continues with her dry spell at the box office as her last film that did some sort of numbers was way back in 2019 with Manikarnika.

The actress has lost her goodwill since then due to constant comments on various issues which more often than not have come across as publicity stunts. Moving on to Tejas, the film will be looking at an opening weekend of Rs. 6 crore in an ideal scenario, and from there, the lifetime could be around Rs. 10 crores.

On the footfalls front, approx. 70,000 Indians watched the film on the opening day and this is even after Tejas got a wide release in India. To put things in perspective, this 70,000 is usually the advance booking admission for a mid-sized feature film. All in all, it was a dull day for Tejas at the Indian Box Office with numbers coming in the predicted range of Bollywood Hungama.

Tejas as of 10 PM – Day 1
PVR + Inox – Rs. 61 lacs
Cinepolis – Rs. 15 lacs
Total – Rs. 76 lacs
