Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is continuing with its glorious run at the box office in India as after recording a historic opening of Rs. 65.50 crore, the film has held on to extraordinary numbers on the second day. According to early estimates, Jawan has collected in the range of Rs. 44.5 crores to Rs. 46.50 crores on Friday in Hindi. This takes the total collections to Rs. 110 crores over two days.
The hold in collections is there across the board, especially in the mass belts, and this is a good sign indicating a long run for the film. The multiplexes too have held up strong on the second day as the three chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis are looking to collect approx. Rs. 20 crores on the second day. Even non-national chains like Rajhans, MovieMax, Citylight, and Miraj are showing excellent hold in numbers.
There was a fear of a bigger drop in numbers on Friday, being a working day, but that hasn’t happened and the platform is now set to explode on Saturday and Sunday. Jawan will hit at-least Rs. 55 crores and Rs. 60 crores on Saturday and Sunday, taking the four-day weekend total in Hindi in the range of Rs. 225 crores. This is bare minimum as the business can go anywhere given the appreciation.
The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions have also held on well with estimates in the range of Rs. 5 to 6 crores. With this, the all-India total of Jawan lands in the Rs. 50 crore zone for the second day, taking the two-day total in the range of Rs. 125 crores nett. This is sheer historic result and probably just the beginning of film scaling new heights in the long run.
