Deadpool & Wolverine Box Office: Film performs superb on Sunday, shows the potential of action comedies :Bollywood Box Office

Deadpool & Wolverine did very well on Sunday as 20.87 crores came in. The film has been doing well across the country, be it multiplexes and single screens or big/small cities and towns. The action has been really lapped by the audiences, despite its graphic appeal. Moreover, it’s not just the men who are loving the film, even amongst womenfolk this Hollywood biggie has been finding favour. One of the key reasons behind that is the humour quotient, which further goes on to show that as a genre, action comedy has quite some takers when it’s done right.

In fact, if one reflects in the past then this was one of the favourite genres of even Indian filmmakers back in the 70s. Manmohan Desai delivered so many action comedies with an out and out masala feel to which worked so well with the audiences. He was the master of the genre and entertained audiences in a big way. Somehow, over the decades, this formula somewhere got lost in Bollywood though Hollywood is still trying to revive it well, case in point being Deadpool & Wolverine. The film is now all set to be a huge success and while superhit status is a given, it could even turn out to be a blockbuster.

One just hopes that Bollywood too wakes up to the genre and brings back such buddy films that are set in an action-comedy genre. Something like this ends up keeping all sort of audiences entertained and moreover, it’s always fun to watch such films with large crowds in theatres. The weekend collections of Rs. 64.55 crores goes on to show that there is so much of potential for such films, if made right, and there is a lot more that’s set to come before the close of its run.
